After the devastating Earthquake, which hit the Latur & Osmanabad districts of Maharashtra, BJS observed during the survey that the affected children would brood over the calamity all the time if left alone and suffer an irreparable psychological damage.  It could also make them indulge in self-pity and render them incapable of becoming self-reliant.  Something was to be done urgently, to get those children back to their studies. BJS came to conclusion that it would focus its activities, mainly on Rehabilitation & Education of those children who had lost their parents and families, as a long - term solution to the entire problem. The Wagholi Education Rehabilitation Center was set up to serve this purpose.
